The Arboretum’s renowned bonsai curator Arthur Joura, hosts his Spring discussion/demonstration while he styles a tree. Arthur has decades of experience and he will share it with us in this engaging working demo format. Meeting will be open to the public in addition to BRBS members. A tray landscape depicting a scene atop North Carolina's Mount Mitchell - highest peak east of the Mississippi River - is a favorite among the Arboretum's bonsai collection. Although it might appear that bonsai are unchanging, they are in fact changing all the time due to the fact they are alive and growing. Our Mount Mitchell has gotten overgrown in recent years and needs to be taken apart and reconstructed. This demonstration program will give a good overview of the process, while also offering insight to the philosophy behind the bonsai concept.
